EU co-chairman of the Geneva discussions Philippe Lefort has denied the report by Russian online news agency Regnum. According to the agency, Lefort said during his visit to Georgia`s occupied region of Tskhinvali that the status of South Ossetia as a virtually independent state was determined by its people a long time ago.
Russia is prepared for closer cooperation with Georgia only if the country does not demand to change the reality after 2008 August war as a responding step for restoring political contacts - Russian foreign minister Sergei Lavrov announced at the press conference.
