Influence of the world economic crisis on Georgia should be reduced as much as possible, Georgian president said at the meeting with Georgian businesspersons working abroad.
Sixteen enterprisers and representatives of the Georgian government have attended the meeting held in the president`s palace in Avlabari district. Participants of the meeting especially emphasized the issue of resolving problems with joint efforts.
Mikheil Saakashvili has listened to the businesspersons` opinions and views regarding the current situation in Georgia and the world economic crisis. The president thanked them for what they are doing abroad and for the investments they implement in Georgia.
`The Georgian society has demonstrated that it can maintain solidity and stability. The time has come when we all should get more serious. The ongoing protest rallies in Tbilisi, the political slogans that were heard at every corner made us lose plenty of investments and jobs. Businesspersons were frightened and some of them even believed that civil war would break out in the country, although everyone should know that carrying out reforms will continue, there will be stability in the country and we will not allow anyone to arrange a destabilization. The reforms are going on in the country and participation of Georgian businesspersons working abroad in this process is necessary`, Mikheil Saakashvili said.
The businesspersons say the current political situation in Georgia impedes attracting foreign investments and overcoming the internal political controversy and discord will lead the country to positive results.
