Georgian president attend opening of new wharf in Poti Port

A new 14th wharf has opened in the Georgia`s Black Sea town of Poti. RAKIA-Invest Arabian Company has made investment of GEL 27 million for the reconstruction works of the terminal.
In the framework of the construction works, the wharf has been refurbished in accordance with newest standards, equipped with contemporary devices; two new cranes have been installed there. New railroad has been made to connect the wharf with the railway route of the port. 350 new jobs have been created.
Working on the project lasted for four months. Georgian president opened the new wharf in Poti Port on Saturday. Mikheil Saakashvili addressed the employees of teh wharf.
The president said, Georgian is on the threshold of irrevocable economic development. He presented the significance of Georgia`s geographic location in terms of transportation of cargos from Europe to Asia. `Georgia was bombed not because someone does not like its president, but because Georgia has profitable geographic location, the lowest taxes rate in the region that helps the country be rated second, next to Hong Kong and Singapore. Georgia is rated eleventh in teh world for simplicity of making business`, the president said.
Talking about how Georgia`s facilities should be used, Saakashvili said, a new airport is being constructed in Poti. A port will be constructed in Anaklia, resorts in Mestia district will be developed and all these will be connected to one another with new road and motorways.
