Ecologically clean trams to appear in Tbilisi
Tbilisi is working on the project on reducing CO2 emission by 20%. Ecologically clean transport - tram - is going to appear in Georgia`s capital in about three years.
Preparation works have already been started. Tbilisi mayor is working with the French side. According to their agreement a large -scale sociological survey will be carried out.
The survey and working on new program of transport management will be concluded in December 2011.
Residents of Tbilisi will also be able to travel by new funicular railway. The railway connecting Narikala district with Metekhi will be launched in Fall 2011.
Tbilisis` plan on development ecologically clean transport fully complies with the Agreement of Mayors Project working within EU. The document signed by mayors of 2000 cities intends reduction of CO2 emission.
Mayors of fifty cities arrived in Tbilisi Thursday to attend a two-day international conference, which is now underway in the hotel Radisson. The conference was held in the frames of the Agreement of Mayors`.
According to Tbilisi`s plan one tram van working on diesel fuel will replace six buses.
