Yashin and Navalni released from custody

21.12.11 11:31

The leaders of the Russian opposition movement Ilya Yashin and Alexei Navalni have been released from custody after serving the 15-day jail term. The two leaders of the opposition movement were detained for taking part in an unsanctioned rally protesting election results. Hundreds of supporters were waiting for the released leaders outside the jail.
Navalni says they will continue protests against the Russian leadership. The prominent anti-Kremlin blogger plans to address the crowd on the opposition rally which will be held on December 24. About 50 thousand people are expected to join the opposition protest.
`All that happened is wonderful -we were jailed in one country and freed in another. We have very simple strategy for the upcoming presidential elections. During the parliamentary elections we have one goal - to vote for anyone except thieves and swindlers. Right now the party of swindlers and thieves is nominating for president its chief swindler and thief,` Navalny said.
