About 130 new tractors were sent today to the regions of Georgia. Before having been sent to villages, the machinery was located in Tbilisi since morning.
President Saakashvili held a presentation of the Agriculture Support Program today. He talked to media about significance of providing villages with contemporary agricultural equipments.
"Our task is to have cultivated more soils than we had in the past years. This means that much more families are supposed to find sources of income and means that we should have Georgian and not foreign products sold in the stores. In the wake of having the agricultural products exempted from taxes, we will be able to have our demands satisfied even against the background of the rising number of tourists coming to our country, therefore, we will be able to increase the export", he said.
The tractor motorcade set off for different directions from Tbilisi today. The motorcade divided into two parts, one part moving to the east and the other - to the west part of the country.
Prior to it, the president met 300 technicians who were re-trained in accordance with a special tree-month program.
Later, Saakashvili inspected the new agricultural machinery and examined one tractor himself.
