Russian prime minister Vladimir Putin has said the formation of the Euro-Asian Union after the collapse of the Soviet Union as one of the most important geopolitical and integration event - the formation of the new customs union- economic union is one of the key points in his five-point action plan, which the president-elect introduced to lawmakers in Russian DUMA yesterday. `The creation of the Customs Union and a common economic space is, I believe, the most important geopolitical and integration event in the post-Soviet space since the break-up of the Soviet Union," Putin announced and expressed his hope that other partners who were interested in more advanced cooperation would join Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan in the future. Prior to assuming the office of the president with the third term, Putin introduced several new initiatives to Russian lawmakers. According to new constitutional amendments, any citizen of Russia can become the president of the country only for two terms, leaving his third term presidency as an exception. Putin`s inaugural ceremony is planned for May 7. The Kremlin is already preparing for the event, though none of the world leaders have been invited to the ceremony.
Member of the parliament from United National Movement Giorgi Vashadze has expressed his concerns regarding the regress in country`s economy. MP Vashadze briefed at the Politiko press club today and said: `Process of economic development in Georgia is going backwards`.
