The Day of Kutaisi marked on May 2

The residents of Georgia`s second largest city Kutaisi are celebrating the Day of Kutaisi - a public holiday on May2. The holiday has its history, which dates back to a tradition of selling flowers by a group of women, who used to hand over the profited money to orphans.

During the past 21 years, the day has been turned into a public holiday, when hundreds of people arrive in the city from various districts of the Imereti Region to join the celebrations on May 2.

In 2012, it is for the third time that the tradition had grown into a large-scale public celebrations and festivities, which includes street performances, charitable concerts, shows, festivals, exhibitions.
