The consulate of Georgia in Greece cannot confirm the reports about the detention of a Georgian sailor along with the crew of the ship captured in Greece. Consul Giorgi Archemashvili said in a telephone interview with Rustavi2 that no official information about the detention of the Georgian sailor has been reported to Georgian consulate.
`No information from the competent offices of the Greek government has yet been provided to Georgia about the detention of our citizen, but as unofficial report says, Greek coast guards have detained a ship with the charges of cigarette smuggling and there is one Georgian sailor along with Russian and Ukrainian ones on its board. We are trying to check up this information and clarify the identity of our citizen,` Giorgi Archemashvili said.
Ukraine`s foreign ministry has released an official report about the detention of the ship Stand-Land in the Portokalis Port. The same report says there are Georgian, Russian and Ukrainian citizens on the board of the arrested ship.
