Gala concert held to celebrate Independence Day in Kutaisi, Tbilisi

The celebration of Independence Day of Georgia concluded with a gala concert in the city of Kutaisi where new parliament building was opened on Saturday. Famous stars like violinist Caroline Campbell, opera singer Nino Surguladze and pianist Khatia Buniatishvili performed at the 2-hour concert.
Adjara symphony orchestra, Tbilisi Opera and Ballet Theatre orchestra and the orchestra of the ten-year music school joined especially for the day yesterday and participated in the concert directed by prominent Italian conductor Gianluca Marciano.
Within the gala concert, the classical music festival - Future of Georgia - also finished. Students of the ten-year music school performed with the famous stars and the different symphony orchestras participating in the gala- concert. The festival which opened in the president`s palace on May 22, aims encouraging young musicians in the country.
Georgia`s president with his wife and Tbilisi mayor attended the closing of the festival.
The gala concert in Kutaisi was finished by grand fireworks.
Thousands of people attended a gala concert also in capital Tbilisi to celebrate the Independence Day on May 26. National dances and songs were performed at the two-hour concert, which was accompanied by the Evgeni Mikeladze symphony orchestra.
