New parliament building opens in Kutaisi, Georgia

The first sitting was held in the new parliament building, which opened in Georgia`s second largest city Kutaisi today.

President Saakashvili with Speaker Bakradze installed the last glass on the building, with it completing construction of the new parliament on which over 2 thousand people were working during the last two years.

With the symbolical installation the new parliament officially opened in Kutaisi.

MPs, representatives of the diplomatic corps, clergymen and other guests attended the first sitting in the new parliament. Family members of the founders of the first Georgian republic also attended the opening ceremony.

Tbilisi Mayor was first who appeared at the red carpet before the new parliament today. He was followed by the majority members.

Later, minority members also joined the sitting, which opened with the in the new parliament.

Family members of the president - his wife and two sons, the younger wearing Georgian traditional clothes - also arrived at the new parliament and attended the opening ceremony.

Only the president of Georgia delivered his speech at the sitting in the new parliament today.
