U.S. Secretary of State visits House of Justice in Batumi
U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton visited the House of Justice in Batumi; the senior guest was introduced with the system of the work of the public service office, which is a new Georgian brand after reforms in the justice system. Deputy Minister of Justice Giorgi Vashadze welcomed the Secretary of State first and President Saakashvili joined the tour afterwards. Hillary Clinton was familiarized with how the House of Justice provides all public services in one office; she viewed the children`s corner and the conference hall. Mrs. Clinton was impressed with the design of the building. After the tour to the House of Justice, U.S. State Secretary and President Saakashvili will hold a joint press conference.
The autumn session of the parliament of Georgia opens with a meeting of the bureau, this time in Tbilisi. The Tbilisi office of the parliament was reconstructed and the lawmakers have moved from Kutaisi to the capital, however, the parliament speaker says the major sessions will be held in Kutaisi office sometimes.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has slammed the NATO Secretary General for his statements made on Ukraine`s crisis. Lavrov says that the statements made by Rasmussen on Ukraine`s crisis mostly exceed his competence.
Russia plans to alter its military strategy - deputy secretary of Russia Security Council Mikheil Popov has said. Popov defined that the developments in Ukraine and NATO`s presence in Eastern Europe, as well as its anti-missile defence plan makes Russia change the military doctrine and make it more precise.
Georgian lawmakers have commented on the controversy about who should attend the 69th session of the UN General Assembly - the President or the Prime Minister, but the majority MPs think that the presence of double delegation would be inconvenient for the country anyway.
A day before the opening of the parliament`s autumn session, the Prime Minister of Georgia met with the chairpersons of the parliamentary factions. Meeting with the majority MPs was also attended by some of the ministers.
