Georgia`s Interior Ministry publishes survey on domestic violence and conflicts14.06.12 20:40The interior ministry of Georgia has published another analytical survey on domestic violence and conflicts as well as analytic materials on crimes committed against and by minors in Georgia. The mentioned survey presents comprehensive data for the period of 2007-011 depicting comparative categories, analyses, evaluation of the number of crimes, violence characteristics and forms with regards to region, gender and age categories. According to the results of domestic violence in regions of Georgia Tbilisi has taken leading position with 632 cases and Adjara the second with 84. The approximate index of violence in Tbilisi is 5.4 cases per 10 000 civilian and 3.4 in the region of Mtskheta-Mtianeti. Most frequently domestic conflict sides are represented by spouses, parents, children and individuals in unregistered marriage, while conflicts are mainly triggered by drunkenness, property disputes and jealousy. In majority of cases (68%) the age category of juveniles is from 16 to 18 years, while the approximate gender index is 96/4% “in favor of” men. The most common crimes perpetrated by juveniles are robbery and carrying of cold steel. Majority of crimes committed by juveniles was registered in Tbilisi (1524) and Imeretu/Racja-Lechkhumi region (494). The highest approximate index of juvenile crimes per 10 000 civilian was registered in Tbilisi (13.1) and Kakheti region (8.5). |
