Georgian PM meets his Japanese counterpart

Georgian Prime Minister continues his visit to Japan. Nika Gilauri met with his Japanese counterpart Yoshihiko Noda in Tokyo today. The sides discussed Japan`s political support for Georgia, also economic and investment projects to be carried out between the two countries.

The Georgian minister also intends to hold meeting with representatives of the Japanese business organizations later today.

At the meeting, the Japanese prime minister stressed that his country supports Georgia`s territorial integrity. Japan was one of the first countries, after the U.S., which recognized the status-neutral documents issued by Georgia`s government, which allow residents of its occupied Abkhazia and South Ossetia regions to travel to the West.

As reported, Japan intends to increase its investments in various fields in Georgia. The country is especially interested in constructing hydro electricity power stations.
Furthermore, it has been reported, that Japan`s JAIKA intends to increase its investments in Georgia. The investment bank has already carried out the 200 million investment, which has been spent on constructing the motor highway in the western part of Georgia.
Japan`s prime minister and other members of the Cabinet of Ministers are expected to visit Georgian within the nearest future in order to discuss details of certain projects.
