Georgia Interior Minister takes over as PM

Georgia`s Internal Affairs Minister Vano Merabishvili will take over as prime minister ahead of a parliamentary election due in October. President Saakashvili made the announcement at the briefing held in the president`s palace today.
"It is a great honour for me this new post, and at the same time this is a very big responsibility for me. My main goal will be very specific: to be useful for people. The time has come in Georgia when every bit of our development, modernization and every bit of achievement has been felt by each Georgian, each Georgian family", he said.
Mr. Ivanishvili added that successful reforms like those one which were carried out in the police should be adopted in economic and political spheres as well.
Vano Merabishvili has to present the government`s new composition and programme for approval to the parliament in two days.
As reported, the cabinet of ministers will include one more minister, which will be in charge of a new employment ministry. The new office is expected to assist to reducing unemployment in the country.
