SWAT officer killed during special operation buried in his village

The SWAT officer killed in the special operation conducted in the village of Lapankuri on August 29, 2012 was buried in the village of Rusiani of Sagarejo district in Eastern Georgia today. Georgian president and defense minister expressed their grief and condolences to Solomon Tsiklauri`s family.
High officials of law enforcement agencies as well as private citizens attended the burial ceremony.
The killed officer was posthumously awarded the Vakhtang Gorgasali Order, one of the highest military decorations in Georgia.
Two officers of the Georgian Interior Ministry - Solomon Tsiklauri and Archil Chokheli, also Military Doctor of the Defence Ministry Vladimer Khvedelidze were killed in the special operation, which was carried out 30 km away from the village Lapankuri, near the border with Dagestan, one of the constituent republics of the Russian Federation.
11 members of the armed group, which was spotted in the area by the security forces of Georgia were killed.
Before opening the fire, the law enforcers offered the members of the armed group to surrender for several times although they were refused.
