U.S. Interagency Delegation met with head of State Audit Office

The U.S. Interagency Delegation led by Deputy Assistant Secretary Thomas O. Melia of the Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights, and Labor, visited the State Audit Office of Georgia and met with the head of the office, Lasha Tordia. The sides focused on the pre-election process in Georgia, its transparency and the procedures of auditing financial transaction by all political parties.
`The goal of the meeting was to discuss the issues tied with the monitoring of the financial transactions of political parties. It is very important for us to provide information to international organizations, NGOs and diplomats about our vision of financial monitoring, the specific issues we are discussing and what kind of approach we have to this process,` head of the State Audit Office said after the meeting.
