Members of the youth wing of the Georgian Dream opposition coalition held a protest rally outside the Gldani N8 prison last night. The protest was sparked after the Ministry of Internal Affairs released the video depicting prisoners` torture and abuse, which took place in this penitentiary facility.
Leaders of the coalition, representatives of human right defender NGOs, leader of the Kartuli Dasi movement Jondi Baghaturia and the relatives of the prisoners joined the rally too. They were demanding punishment of the authorities of the ministry of corrections and legal assistance.
Other group of the opposition coalition held another rally on Melikishvili Avenue last night. They blocked up traffic on the Kostava Street and the Avenue too. Representatives of various opposition parties joined the rally afterwards. The protesters were also objecting to the tortuer of prisoners and were demanding punishment of the authorities and the officers involved in this crime.
