Georgian Prime minister visited today prison No2 of Batumi and prison No3 of Kutaisi. Vano Merabishvili introduced new heads of the facilities and inspected the living conditions in the prisons stressing significance of improving them.
When inspecting the Kutaisi prison, Vano Merabishvili talked representatives of the ombudsperson and thanked them for defending prisoners` rights. The pm also expressed hope that the cooperation with teh ombudsperson`s office will be intensified.
When visiting the Batumi prison, Vano Merabishvili talked to patrol police officers who have been supervising prisons since tomorrow after the president`s instruction to replace prison guards with patrol police officers.
Nine persons have been arrested within the investigation launched after finding the scandalous videos of human torture and sexual abuse. The videos were along weapons and drugs in a secret store in Samegrelo last week.
