Office of the Public Defender of Georgia has published a special statement regarding the situation in Georgia`s prisons. `Situation in every penitentiary facility is normal currently and is under control; these facilities operate in usual regime. It should be noted that no additional restriction or prohibition was imposed in any prison in Georgia during past few days. The fact that dates with relatives are underway in 24 hour regime in Gldani prison during past few days is also very important. In addition, most of the inmates had a possibility to give telephone calls to their relatives and family members and tell them how they are inside the prison. Public Defender`s office continues monitoring, which is currently underway in the Gldani N8 and Rustavi N6 prisons,` the statement says.

President of Georgia has released a special statement on his facebook page regarding the detention of the UNM secretary general Vano Merabishvili and president`s representative to Kakheti Region, former minister of health care Zurab Chiaberashvili.
