United National Movement speaks about possible pressure on the Georgian Public Broadcaster after the parliamentary elections. Akaki Minashvili of the party says the GPB has its mandate and interference in its activities is unacceptable.
`After the parliamentary elections, we heard that there are people who strive for the position of the GPB chairperson and the supervisory board. This is a kind of pressure on free media. There is a law, there is a supervisory board with its mandate and therefore, everything must happen in the frames of law. That`s why, the parliamentary elections should not cause changes in the board, neither should it cause the change of director general,` Minashvili said.
Candidate for the chairperson of parliament Davit Usupashvili from Georgian Dream coalition has commented on the complaints of the UNM. Davit Usupashvili said regardless of any international monitoring or agitation, media should be unbiased and cover the events impartially.
