Khidasheli determines functions of investigation commission
22.10.12 14:21
The chairperson of the parliament`s investigation commission Tinatin Khidasheli says she will not voice the names of former authorities and their possible involvement in illegal activities, as the commission is focused on investigating the crimes committed in the governmental structures during the past eight years in accordance with public interest. Khidasheli was questioned about former minister of defense Dimitri Shashkini, who confessed in a special statement released on facebook page today, that he really fled Georgia. Meanwhile, the members of the parliamentary minority say they see no need of the work of such commission, as the investigation of any crime is the competence of law enforcement structures and not of the parliament. `The commission does not intend to look into the cases of specific persons, but the crimes, which were committed in Georgia during the past eight years. The investigation of the crimes will reveal responsible persons itself that`s why I am not interested in names. We are interested in restoration of justice in the country and restoration of public confidence to law and court. This is our key goal,` Khidasheli has explained.
