Georgia`s ex-minister for internal affairs Bachana Akhalaia, who was sent to two-month pr-trial detention by Tbilisi City Court yesterday pending investigation into charges against him involving abuse of soldiers and illegal confinement, is in an isolated cell in prison #8 now. The living conditions in teh cell accord with the law.
Bachana Akhalaia`s attorneys intend to file an appeal to court today.
As for army chief of staff Giorgi Kalandadze, the court ruled his release. He maintains his position of the army chief of staff.
The court also ruled to release commander of 4th army brigade Zurab Shamatava on GEL 20,000 bail.
A preliminary court hearing into the case of Bachana Akhalaia is scheduled for December 25, that will be followed by launch of trial in two weeks time.
