Opposition MP Akhalaia accuses government of persecution
26.12.12 12:10
Zugdidi single-mandate MP from the United National Movement, Roland Akhalaia does not intend to go to the prosecutor`s office for interrogation, though he reiterates that he is prepared to answer any question of the investigation only publicly. Roland Akhalaia defined the reason of his decision in his interview with Rustavi2. He says he was elected as an MP and he feels responsibility to convince his voters that he did not violate law. `During my work at the prosecutor`s office I was fighting against crime, but the reason is obviously different here - as Mr. Alasania warned my after elections, where I defeated him with 15,000 votes, that they would arrested my unless I would not defect from elections and recognize defeat. Our family is terrorized and these processes have nothing to do with justice and law. This is provocation, blackmailing and persecution, though they cannot scare us with any blackmail or detentions. I want to tell those who stand behind these processes - if your goal is to arrested me, here I am,` Roland Akhalaia said.
