Georgia`s ex-Justice Minister sentenced to pre-trial detention in absentia

Georgia`s former Justice Minister Mr. Zurab Adeishvili has been remanded in custody in absentia.
The former minister`s lawyer said the Tbilisi City Court satisfied yesterday the mediation of the Prosecutor’s Office and Zurab Adeishvili was sentenced to pre-trial detention in absentia.
As reported, the Prosecutor’s Office appealed to the Tbilisi City Court with regard to remanding Zurab Adeishvili in custody today.
The pre trial has been scheduled for February 28, 2013.
The prosecutor`s office also demanded to suspend the former` minister`s diplomatic and citizenship passports.
Along with it, to unistablished reports said, the former minister has been granted a political asylum by the Belgian government and provided with accommodation in the country.
The Front News reports, the foreign minister has also received guarantees that he will not be extradited to Georgian even if any accusation brought against him is proved.
Charges were filed against Zurab Adeishvili in connection with the scandalous videos depicting inhuman treatment to prisoner before the parliamentary elections in Georgia.
