Georgia`s Prime Minister Mr. Bidzina Ivanishvili arrived today at Saint Echmiadzin church in Tbilisi to congratulate the parish of the Armenian Apostolic Church on Christmas and Epiphany.
In his address made in the church, Bidzina Ivanishvili stressed significance of relation of the two nations and said the Armenian Diaspora makes a great contribution to development of the country.
"I`d like to congratulate the celebration to our brother nations, at first the Armenians living in Georgia and then to the whole Armenian nation which is scattered throughout the world on Christmas and Epiphany. I`m happy to be here and mark this celebration with them. Let`s look at our history - the two nations have been living together during centuries and this co-existence is the reason that we don`t put our history under suspicion and have managed to come together until now", he said.
Armenians celebrate Christmas on January 6 as a public holiday in Armenia. It also coincides with the Epiphany. Traditionally, Armenians fast during the week leading up to Christmas.
