Georgian President and other officials were attending Christmas liturgy at the Holy Trinity Cathedral last night. President congratulated Patriarch of All Georgia on his 80th jubilee once again. Mikheil Saakashvili has also given interview to journalists. He said that Christmas was the beginning of something new and people should be optimistic on this day. `I wish each of us to meet every New Year with more optimism and high mood. I wish all of us to maintain all that we have been building during the past years and not allow anybody to ruin all this as we are threatened; we must not accept return to the past and dating past. Undesirable dates with the past must be over,` President said and added the nation should focus on progress. Lawmakers, ministers and Tbilisi mayor were also present at the liturgy. They wished Merry Christmas to Georgian people.
West Georgia`s District Prosecutor`s Office has arrested the secretary general of the United National movement Vano Merabishvili and the president`s representative to the Kakheti Region Zurab Chiaberashvili.
