Speaker sees other motives in the resignation of deputy foreign minister
23.01.13 11:54
Chairperson of the parliament of Georgia thinks there are other motives in the decision of the first deputy minister of foreign affairs to resign. Nika Vashakidze announced his resignation yesterday and said the reason of his decision was incompatibility of visions on foreign policy priorities with the government of Georgia. Nikoloz Vashakidze was the deputy minister since 2010 and the current minister Maia Panjikidze offered him to stay on his position even after the change of the government. Speaker Davit Usupashvili was invited to the political talk-show Position on Rustavi2 last night. When asked to comment on the resignation of the deputy minister, Usupashvili said he thought there were other reasons, though refused to go in details. `I cannot interfere in the activities of the executive government to such a level, but I can tell you that I know other motive of this decision. I cannot tell you more about this, but Nikoloz Vashakidze and other officials also, should say truth once they make such statements,` Davit Usupashvili said. Former deputy minister was asked to comment on the statement of the speaker. Nikoloz Vashakidze reiterated that the statements of the governmental officials about foreign policy priorities need more clarification and definitions.
