Rally in Kvareli municipality over after meeting with governor
Rally of the locals in the Kvareli municipality has been over after the protestors met with the local governor. About 300 locals have been rallying outside the municipal administration objecting to the distribution of compensation funds, which was allocated by the government of Georgia for the disaster affected region. Locals said the commission did not work fairly and the registration of damage was biased. The protestors even blocked up central highway for a few hours, demanding meeting with the local administration. After the meeting, the protestors and the governor agreed to form a new commission for counting the damage and the locals would have four representatives in it.
Prime Minister of Georgia Bidzina Ivanishvili has confirmed that the detention of former Prime Minister Vano Merabishvili was briefly discussed at the meeting with diplomatic corps today. Prime Minister told journalists after the meeting that they mostly focused on the basic problems of the country and the ways for their solution.
