The investigation service ministry of finance will present a motion to the Tbilisi City Court to rule on the preventive measures against the former chief of the financial police - Davit Kezerashvili was charged with bribery, money extortion and financial machinations on Wednesday.
According to the investigation, by illegal deals, Kezerashvili used to take responsibility on gaining control and interfere in the management of customs, tax and other controller organs with his authority and influence. The IS officials say in total Kezerashvili took $4 669 978 as a bribe and $7 664 705 head of the organized crime gang. Reportedly, Kezerashvili was taking these funds via his brother-in-law, Meiri Janashvili. Kezerashvili may face from 11 to 15 year sentence if recognized guilty.
