UNM accuses majority of pressure and proposes another initiative
04.02.13 15:11
United National Movement has responded on the statement of the ruling majority made earlier today. The majority called on the minority members to support the draft amendments to the constitution on reducing president`s authorities, which will be presented to parliament for vote this week. Leader of the minority, Davit Bakradze made a statement at the UNM office today and said the language and the policy, the majority used in relation with the minotiry was the language of blackmail, pressure and ultimatum. Despite the political pressure, blackmail on minority MPs, despite all those means they have used against minority members in recent weeks, the parliamentary majority failed to collect the support of sufficient number of MPs for constitutional amendments and therefore, the draft amendments presented to parliament will fail and this failure is greatly the outcome of that language and the form of communication and pressure, which they are trying to gain our support with,` Davit Bakradze said. He also accused the government of convincing the society that they are prevented from fulfilling their pre-election program as there is a threat of dismissing the government by the president, Bakradze said that no one was going to do so. `There is no plot and no body plans to obstruct to him. They should give up hunting on devils and accusing Nationals of seeding spies, they`d better go on and work,` davit Bakradze said. The minority leader proposed another legislative initiative to the majority. They propose to change that point of the constitution, by which 3/4 of the votes will be the constitutional quorum, which means that the government will no longer be tempted to `drag` MPs to their side.
