Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia has arrested three former officials of the same office for involvement in the case of torture and abuse of seven officers of the MIA first division`s personal staff. PR Chief of the Ministry Nino Giorgobiani reported the details of the crime at the briefing today.
According to her, the police arrested Davit Chubinidze, Davit Vekua and Mamuka Abashidze; also, the military servicemen of the infantry-surveillance battalion of the ministry of defense corporal Davit Giorgashvili, corporal Aleksi Davitashvili, private Vladimer Zangiev and private Robert Sutidze.
According to the investigation, these persons were following the order of the former interior minister Bacho Akhalaia who is currently held in prison with other charges. Reportedly, the seven officers were got rid of their duties for several weeks and tortured physically, calling them traitors for supporting Georgian Dream political party. They forced the seven officers to brawl with one another, buried them alive in the ground, and held them in cells in unbearable conditions.
