Consultations on constructing new mosque in Batumi to start soon
Consultations will soon start on the exact location of a new mosque to be constructed in Georgia`s Black Sea town of Batumi.
Chairperson of the government of the Adjara Autonomous Republic Mr. Archil Khabadze said before making a certain decision, all issues will be agreed with experts and specialists.
Vice Speaker of Adjarian parliament Mr. Murman Dumbadze refused the reports that he was against constructing mosques in Batumi. He said the government is waiting for the local Muslims to apply for construction of a mosque in Batumi.
Mr. Dumbadze explained that construction of a mosque will start in the city only in case of Muslims` request.
Georgian and Turkish sides reached an agreement on Georgian cultural heritage problems and restoration of Georgian monuments on the territory of Turkey; also construction of a new mosque in Batumi during Prime Minister Ivanishvili`s visit to Turkey.
