21.02.13 10:00
The interrogation of one of the defendants in the case of Buta Robakidze`s murder, Irakli Pirtskhalava lasted four hours yesterday. The defendant left the office of the chief prosecutor at 11 p.m. and said that he would talk about the details of the case only after the expertise on the authenticity of the video obtained by him is over. Pirtskhalava used his right of silence, which as his attorney at law defines, means that he does not recognize his guilt and involvement in the crime. Pirtskhalava was the police chief of the Didube-Chughureti district of Tbilisi, when the murder of Robakidze occurred. Robakidze was killed in a special operation in November 2004 and since then the crime became the subject of political speculations. Police officer was charged with unintentional murder and sent to prison. However, Pirtskhalava obtained the original video of the special operation, where the shot is heard and the bleeding boy is seen lying on the ground. The family says the video was fabricated; however, all sides are waiting for the results of the expertise. Pirtskhalava said before the interrogation yesterday, that he was going to send a special address to the U.S. ambassador. He is also going conduct of independent expertise of the video by U.S. experts.
