Prosecutor comments on charges against Ugulava
25.02.13 10:30
Chief Prosecutor`s office of Georgia demands suspension of authority to the mayor of Tbilisi, Gigi Ugulava - Chief Prosecutor Archil Kbilashvili announced in interview with Rustavi2 weekly analytical show Post Scriptum.
Kbilashvili said the ruling on one million GEL bail for the mayor is quite reasonable, because the investigation accuses him of embezzling over 20 million GEL. He also said that the demand of the investigation about a warrant on not leaving the country was also conditioned by the graveness of the sentence the mayor may face.
`When an accusation includes misuse of authority against the person, who worked at this position, which in this case was expressed in embezzlement and misappropriation of state funds, it is quite logical that the person is being suspended his duties, within which the possible crime was committed,` Archil Kbilashvili said.
