Chief prosecutor`s office has arrested two former officers of patrol police - Maizer Liparteliani and Levan Lobzhanidze for giving different testimonies to the investigation on the case of murder of Buta Robakidze. 19 year-old boy was killed by a patrol officer in a special operation in November 2004. Irakli Pirtskhalava, who obtained and released an original video of the special operation, where the shooting of the boy is described, accuses the investigation of selective justice. Pirtskhalava says all other officers of patrol police seen on the video must be interrogated and brought to justice. `I`d like to know what the other officers, who must be interrogated, will say about this. Instead of investigation, we are led somewhere else and this somewhere is seems to be a selective justice,` Pirtskhalava says. According to the investigation, Liparteliani gave testimony four times, each time saying that he did not see arms at the scene of the crime, however, after the release of the latest video, Liparteliani changed his position and said that he saw there various types of weapons. Reportedly, Levan Lobzhanidze has also changed testimony several times.
Liparteliani`s attorney says his defendant is prepared to cooperate with the investigation. The two officers will face their charges within 48 hours since the detention.
