Parliament to begin discussion of constitutional amendments soon

Parliament of Georgia will begin discussion of constitutional amendments on March 20 - parliament speaker Davit Usupashvili has confirmed this. Davit Usupashvili called on the colleagues to arrange schedule for committee hearings next week and get prepared for beginning discussions on these amendments from March 20. Two draft amendments to the constitution of Georgia have been initiated by the majority in parliament - one is about the restriction of the president`s right to dismiss parliament and appoint new government unilaterally and the second is about determining the location of the parliament.
Nine persons have been arrested within the investigation launched after finding the scandalous videos of human torture and sexual abuse. The videos were along weapons and drugs in a secret store in Samegrelo last week.
Vladimer Bedukadze, former employ of the prison, who obtained and released the scandalous videos of prisoners` torture last autumn, has published an open letter to majority MP Tinatin Khidasheli.
