President of Georgia Mikheil Saakashvili met with the president of Turkey, Abdullah Gül in the frames of the UN General Assembly in New York.
The two presidents discussed bilateral cooperation issues and the aspirations, which will intensify the relation between the two partner countries.
President of Turkey thanked Mikheil Saakashvili for the cooperation developed between Georgia and Turkey in the period of his presidential term. He said the most important achievements in this period were liberation of free trade and visa free relations and if this reality is changed under the decision of the new government in Georgia, it will affect both parties.
The presidents also touched joint economic and cultural projects. Abdullah Gül said these projects should continue in the future.
NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen has reaffirmed support to Georgia`s territorial integrity and sovereignty. At the press conference held in Brussels today, Secretary General said the position of the Alliance in regards with Georgia-Russia relations remained unchanged.
