Prime Minister meets with news chiefs, talk show anchors
Prime Minister of Georgia has met with the heads of news departments of Georgian televisions and the anchors of political talk-shows. The meeting was held at the Prime Minister`s business center.
Bidzina Ivanishvili started the meeting with his address and assessed the work of the government of Georgia positively. He said the pre-election promises were overfullfilled.
`I have come to tell you how effectively the new government of Georgia has worked during past one year. I think that the new government was very effective; we have not made a serious mistake. As for the promises, they were overfulfilled and I had not expected that we could have been so effective and we could succeed to that extent,` Ivanishvili said.
As for media, Ivanishvili said that after the parliamentary elections in October 2012, Georgian media had a breakthrough.
`The second is your assessments - I do not downplay the meaning of media and you indeed are the fourth Estate and have a very great function. The government did its best to make information available for you and from the point of view of the freedom of media, a serious breakthrough has occurred. Today, nobody can say that media is oppressed by the government,` Bidzina Ivanishvili said.
