Kerry, Rasmussen urge Ukraine to listen to its people
NATO`s Rasmussen and U.S.`s Kerry urge the Ukraine government to uphold freedom of expression and listen to its people after the country`s decision to spurn closer ties with the European Union under pressure from Russia - Rasmussen and Kerry made this statement at the briefing held in Brussels yesterday. Anders Fogh Rasmussen has called on all parties to abstain from provocations. `We condemn the use of excessive force against peaceful demonstrators in Ukraine. We call on all parties to refrain from provocations and violence. We urge Ukraine, as the holder of the Chairmanship in Office of the OSCE, to fully abide by its international commitments and to uphold the freedom of expression and assembly,` said NATO`s Secretary General. The developments in Ukraine were reflected in a joint statement adopted by the NATO Foreign Ministers in Brussels. Kerry has also slammed Ukraine`s president saying he took a decision on European integration only based on his personal interests. He also expressed his desire to visit Ukraine after the country returned to its European way.
