Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs at the United States Department of State, Victoria Nuland pays official visit to Georgia. The US senior official arrived in Tbilisi from Ukraine and starts meetings with Georgian authorities. Prior to the meeting with Prime Minister, Victoria Nuland and Irakli Gharibashvili attended the presentation of special ramp for the persons with limited abilities, which was constructed at the government`s chancellery in Tbilisi. Victoria Nuland has also addressed the crowd gathered at the presentation.
`I am pleased to be back in Georgia and to see first hand the remarkable progress you`ve made in recent years developing not just the physical infrastructure, but the democratic institutions as well. Prime Minister I congratulate you on taking office and reiterate the US commitment to continue in to promote Georgia`s security, democracy and prosperity. Thank you for organizing today`s event. The US government is proud to support public and private efforts in Georgia to overcome physical and economic barriers for people with disabilities. I can think of no more important symbol of the government`s commitment to all of the people of Georgia than this spectacular ramp you are doing to support people with disabilities,` Victoria Nuland said.
Russian helicopters have violated Georgian airspace - several helicopters flew over the Georgian controlled territory from the occupied Tskhinvali Region yesterday and from the occupied Abkhazia today.
President of Georgia paid tribute to the memory of Georgian national hero, Zhiuli Shartava on his 70th anniversary. Giorgi Margvelashvili announced at the memorial today that by commemorating Zhiuli Shartava, he was also paying tribute to all, who fell in the tragedy of Abkhazia.
Today the first National Hero of independent Georgia – Zhiuli Shartava would become 70 years old. Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili together with Defence Minister Irakli Alasania, other members of Georgian Government and MPs paid a tribute to the memory of Zhiuli Shartava at Saburtalo Pantheon.
Two tourists were killed, two others are missing and only one of the crew survived in an avalanche in Ushguli. The survived tourist contacted the rescue service for help in Ushguli. Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia has already confirmed the report about the death of tourists.
Interpol is considering the request of the Ukraine`s government to issue an arrest warrant for ousted president Viktor Yanukovych. The international organization has received an official letter from the Ukraine`s government and will publish the order warrant on its website soon.
