Snow causes restrictions on roads in Georgia
It snowed all night long in almost all regions of Georgia last night. The snow and strong wind has inflicted damage to the city of Batumi, Adjara Region, where the wind uprooted several trees and frozen water collectors in streets, due to which, some streets were flooded.
In addition, restrictions have been imposed on the Batumi-Keda motorway and on Tsikhisdziri Pass.
As for the Imereti Region, the snow cover has reached 50 cm there. Roads in some villages of the Chiatura, Tkibuli, Kharagauli and Vani mountainous regions have been blocked up; tractors were cleaning the roads all night long, providing non-stop traffic.
Restrictions have been also imposed on Rikoti Pass and the Kobi-Gudauri section of the main highway. Light vehicles are allowed to drive there only with wheel-chains. Special vehicles remain at the problematic regions to clean up roads permanently and avoid blockades on the roads.
Weather forecast says the low temperature will be maintained and it will continue to snow until December 17th. They also forecast frost in all regions.
