Merabishvili accuses chief prosecutor of pressure
Arrested secretary general of the United National Movement Vano Merabishvili has accused the chief prosecutor of Georgia Otar Partskhaladze of pressure. Merabishvili made a scandalous testimony at his trial in Kutaisi court today. According to him, he was taken away from the custody and met with the chief prosecutor, who threatened him.
`Late at night on Friday, at half past one, they took me away from prison, put me in a car, covered my head with my own jacket and as I reckon, they took me to the penitentiary department. I saw to persons there. Chief prosecutor, Otar Partskhaladze threatened that if I cooperated on the case of the investigation of Zurab Zhvania`s death and provide information about the whereabouts of the Saakashvili`s money, I would be given a chance to leave the borders of the country, otherwise, I would be held in worse conditions in prison and my political or non-political friends would be also prosecuted,` Merabishvili announced.
