Majority, minority comments on ex-official`s arrest
Members of the parliamentary majority say the detention of the former municipal official and former security guard of the late prime minister Zurab Zhvania is yet another fact of doing justice. The parliamentary minority disagrees with the ruling party saying the detention of Koba Kharshiladze is politically motivated and aimed at destroying the strongest opposition party United National Movement.
Koba Kharshiladze was arrested in the court hall last night under the ruling of the Appeals Court. The motion on detention of the defendant in the case of Gree Service ltd, which provided greening service to the capital was demanded by the prosecutor, who asserted that Kharshiladze planned to leave the country and evade criminal responsibility. The detention however did not nullify the 400,000 GEL bail, against which Kharshiladze was released from pre-trial detention by the court last week.
