Resigned chief prosecutor Otar Partskhaladze has made a scandalous statement in the interview with Primetime newspaper. Former chief prosecutor, who decided to resign after the opponents obtained information that he had been tried for hooliganism in Germany in his youth, says that the scandal around him was caused by the detention of former deputy prosecutor Davit Chkhatarashvili. `My appointment was followed by the detention of Davit Chkhatarashvili, who, as it was clarified later, worked comfortably at the office. He was free and gave consultations to that-time employs of the prosecutor`s office. Chkhatarashvili was employed as the consultant. I have more information about him,` Partskhaladze said. He also added that regardless of who becomes new prosecutor, the office will keep on working in the same regime and continue investigations on high-profile criminal cases. Another issue, on which Partskhaladze spoke, was his conviction record, which was tied to the period he lived in Germany. He says it was a misunderstanding and he had a clash with the police when he was 24. He says he would have been sent to prison for 15 years if he had been recognized guilty.
