Procedures for taking Georgian citizenshp to be simplified
The procedures for taking the citizenship of Georgia will be simplified - the corresponding amendments to the Law of Georgia on Citizenship was presented for the first hearing at the Human Rights Committee of the Parliament of Georgia by the first deputy minister of justice.
According to the draft law, any person, born abroad, will be automatically granted the citizenship of Georgia if at least one of the parents is a Georgian citizen. Also, the paragraph of the law, according to which a person was deprived of the citizenship of Georgia for residing abroad, will be nullified.
The lawmakers will assemble at the Human Rights Committee today too. They will focus on the electoral amendments and the Code on Imprisonment.
