International society condemns violence in Ukraine

Ukraine`s clashes and strikes between the riot police Berkut and protestors were in the focus of international media and foreign politicians whole night. Televisions were broadcasting live from Kiev`s square of liberty. One of the first foreign politicians, who called on the European Union to impose sanctions against Ukraine`s authorities, was the foreign minister of Germany.
EU Foreign Policy Chief Catherine Ashton has also condemned violence, while the European Commissioner for Enlargement and European Neighbourhood Policy, Stefan Fule held a telephone conversation with the PM`s designate of Ukraine and expressed his concerns regarding the escalation of situation in Ukraine. He also condemned the fact that the riot police was equipped with gun machines.
Swedish Foreign Minister Carl Bildt commented on the situation in Ukraine on his page on Twitter.
`Only person who can now stop catastrophe in Ukraine is President Yanukovich. His vacillation and violence responsible for situation,` Bildt posted.
NATO Secretary General`s statement was also published on the official website of the organizations.
`I am seriously concerned about the return to violence in Ukraine and the reported deaths in Kyiv. I call on all parties to refrain from violence and to urgently resume dialogue, including through the parliamentary process,` Rasmussen wrote.
Meanwhile, Joseph Biden talked with president Yanukovich on telephone. Earlier, White House Press Secretary made a special statement regarding the situation in Ukraine. Jay Carney expressed his concerns that the Berkut was going to use force against the protestors on Maidan Square. He called on the Ukraine`s president to resume dialogue with the opposition. In addition, the US embassy in Ukraine warned its citizens to abstain from going in the streets of Kiev.
