U.S. Ambassador concerned on situation in conflict area
The United States ambassador to Georgia, Richard Norland talks about a very concerning tendency along the occupation line, where the occupants continue detentions of peaceful civilians.
Richard Norland says there were cases, when the detainees were promptly released, but in general, these facts prove that these detentions have very negative influence on the everyday life of the inhabitants of this area. The ambassador also said the international community was standing with Georgia and was focused on these facts, helping the country to restore its territorial integrity.
The whereabouts of the two residents of the village of Kldistskaro is still unknown. They were taken away by the Russian occupants when they were picking crapes on the territory, which is under the control of the Georgian government. The charges they are facing are the same as in all other cases -"the illegal crossing of the borders of South Ossetia".
