Deputy Minister visits wounded soldiers in U.S.
Within the visit to the USA, Deputy Defence Minister visited Peter Harsch Prosthetics Clinic in San Diego, California. Vako Avaliani met with the Georgian military servicemen wounded in August War 2008 and ISAF mission on the ground. The doctors briefed Deputy Defence Minister on the rehabilitation process of the Georgian military.
The soldiers with amputated limbs are provided with bio-micro prosthesis. Currently, they are going on the appropriate exercises to adapt and get accustomed to new prosthesis and master in how to use electric limbs. They are able to easily move on difficult terrain with the help of advanced electric limbs. The new prosthesis resisting the extreme conditions enable the military to pursue more active life. Georgian military doctor, Major Zviad Burdzga observes their rehabilitation course in the USA as well.
Rehabilitation course at Peter Harsch Prosthetics Clinic is individual for each serviceman. They were selected according to their types of injuries. At the first stage 6 wounded military underwent the prosthesis program. They have already returned to Georgia. All military servicemen who are amputated as a result of injuries in August War 2008 and ISAF mission will undergo prosthesis program stage by stage. After returning home all military will come back to their units to continue military service there.
