President of France starts visit to Georgia
President of France Francois Hollande pays officials visit to Georgia. The presidential plane landed at the Tbilisi International Airport at half past three and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, Maia Panjikidze was the first to welcome and meet with the guest. The meeting was held at the VIP section of the airport.
The President of France said his visit had two goals - to support the signing of the EU-Georgia Association Agreement and to Georgia`s territorial integrity.
`I`d like to express my support to the fact that you are going to sign the Association Agreement in order to encourage economic relations. That`s why in the first part of my visit I will attend the forum of Georgian and French businessmen,` Francois Hollande said.
The President of France has also welcomed the decision of the Georgian government to join the EUFOR RCA.
President Hollande held his next meeting with the Prime Minister of Georgia. Irakli Gharibashvili welcomed the guest at the government`s chancellery. After the face-to-face meeting, the President and the Prime Minister met in an enlarged format. The sides discussed Georgia`s European integration issues, including the upcoming ceremony of signing EU association agreement, bilateral relations and the prospects for enhancing these relations.
Irakli Gharibashvili thanked the French President for his support to Georgia`s European aspirations, sovereignty, territorial integrity and non-recognition policy.
The President of France has also attended a Georgia-France economic forum, where he reiterated the open support of his country to Georgia, its Euro-Atlantic aspirations, sovereignty and territorial integrity.
